Synthesis and Constitution of HIS

-According to powder and single crystal XRD results for (III) (monoclinic, space group P2 1 /c, Z = 4), the iodine atom is linked to a sulfate and a hydrogen sulfate group thus forming a IO 2 -bridge. The new acid can be regarded as being formed by condensation of a hypothetical iodic acid HIO 2 with sulfuric acid. -(
