Synthesis and Characterization of C70Br14.

-The title compound is prepared by bromination of C70 in liq. Br2 or in the solvents CHCl2-CHCl2 and CS2, respectively. C70Br14 is characterized by powder XRD, FT-IR spectroscopy, solid state 13C NMR, TGA, and DTA. The compound has a monoclinic structure with four formula units per unit cell. C70Br14 decomposes slowly at room temp.; complete decomposition to C70 and Br2 occurs at 134.9
