Synthesis and Applications of Nonracemic β-Amino Aldehydes to the Asymmetric Synthesis of Piperidines: (+)-Dihydropinidine.

-A new method to synthesize chiral building blocks, i.e. the stable N-protected β-aminoaldehydes (VI), in 4 steps is reported. They are applied in the synthesis of the piperidine alkaloids 2-phenylpiperidine (X) and dihydropinidine (XIII).
