Synthesis and Anticonvulsant Activity of 3-[3-[(Dimethylamino)methyl]-5-methyl-4H-1,2,4-triazol-4-yl] -4-(ochlorobenzoyl)pyridine.

-A facile synthesis of the title compound (X) starting from 3-amino-4-benzoylpyridine (I) is given. Compound (X) exhibits good anticonvulsant activity in the subcutaneous pentylenetetrazole anticonvulsant screen indicating that an appropriately substituted pyridine ring moiety can serve as a bioisostere of a chlorobenzene ring with respect to
