Syntheses with Organoboranes. Part 7. Monohydroboration of Conjugated Dienes with Catecholborane Catalyzed by Complexes of Nickel(II) Chloride and Cobalt(II) Chloride with Diphosphines.

-The hydroboration of dienes such as (I) and (V) with catecholborane in the presence of catalytic amounts of dichloro nickel (or cobalt) diphosphine complexes proceeds selectively as 1,2-addition. No 1,4-addition is observed. -
