-Cyclic ethers, sulfides, and hydrocarbons (I) react with acetylenic trifluoromethyl sulfones ("triflones") to provide the products (III) of radical C-H alkynylation. Alkynes bearing propargylic oxygen cannot be prepared, but silyl or ethers and chlorides in remote positions are tolerated. Furthermore, crown ethers (cf.
