β¦ Synopsis
The title compounds are prepared by reaction of the elements at 850 β’ C with fluxes such as BaCl 2 or an eutectic mixture of LiCl/KCl. Single crystal XRD of all three compounds show tetrahedral structures based on CuTe 4 units. BaDyCuTe 3 crystallizes in the orthorhombic space group Cmcm with Z = 4, K 1.5 Dy 2 Cu 2.5 Te 5 is orthorhombic with space group Pmnn with Z = 4, and K 0.5 Ba 0.5 DyCu 1.5 Te 3 belongs to the orthorhombic space group Cmc 2 1 with Z = 4. While BaDyCuTe 3 contains infinite one-dimensional chains of tetrahedra with stoichiometry [CuTe 5-3 ]β, the new phase K 0.5 Ba 0.5 DyCu 1.5 Te 3 forms a three-dimensional framework of tetrahedra. In K 1.5 Dy 2 Cu 2.5 Te 5 infinite chains of vertex-sharing [CuTe 5-3 ]β are present which form a three-dimensional network. -(HUANG, F. Q.;
