Syntheses and Characterization of 2-Amino-5-aryl-1,3,4-oxadiazoles Containing Trifluoroethoxy Groups.

-A convenient route to the novel 2-amino-5-aryloxadiazole (V) via oxidative cyclization of ptrifluoroethoxybenzoylthiosemicarbazide (IV) is developed.

Attempts to obtain compound (V) by direct trifluoroethoxylation of 2-amino-5-(pchlorophenyl)oxadiazole (VII) fail and furnish the benzamide (VIII), unexpectedly. A possible reaction pathway to (VIII) is proposed. -(ZHANG,
