Supramolecular Assembly Based on Keggin Cluster and Basketlike Cage. -(C10H10N2)12(PMo12O40)2 (SrP6 O73)2•9H2O is hydrothermally synthesized from a mixture of Na2MoO4, 4,4'-bipyridine, H3PO4, SrCl2, and H2O (pH 3 adjusted with NaOH, 160 °C, autoclave, 4 d; 40% yield). The compound is characterized by single crystal XRD (monoclinic, space group P21/c, Z = 2), XPS, IR, and UV spectroscopy. Its structure contains basket-like [SrP 6 O 73 ] 9-cages and [PMo 12 O 40 ] 3- clusters.
