Substitution in Ce2MSi3 Intermetallic Compositions with M: (Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, or Ni)x(Pd or Au)1-x.

-The title alloys, prepared by arc-melting of the elements, are studied by powder XRD of as-cast and annealed samples and by magnetic susceptibility, resistivity, and specific heat measurements of selected single phase compositions. The measurements suggest valence fluctuation behavior of Ce in Ce2COSi3, the structure (hexagonal, P6/ mmm, Z = 2) of which is reinvestigated by single crystal XRD methods and are shown to be an ordered variant of the AlB2 structure type. With decreasing Co content in Ce2Cox(Pd or Au)1-xSi3 a transition from valent fluctuation to trivalent Ce behavior is observed. -(
