Substituted Xanthones as Antimycobacterial Agents. Part 2. Antimycobacterial Activity.
-A wide range of substituted xanthones (I) (60 examples) is screened for their activity against mycobacterial strains. The most active compound (Ia) shows activity with a MIC value of 3 Β΅g/mL against M. tuberculosis which is comparable to drugs used in the treatment of tuberculosis.
