✦ Synopsis
Structure of 9-(4-Pyridylmethylene)fluorene and 9-(E)-Benzylidene-1-azafluorene. Oxidation of 9-(4-Pyridylmethylene)fluorene and Its Condensation with Acetylenedicarboxylic Acid Diester.
-Condensation of fluorene (I) with formylpyridine (II) affords the pyridylmethylenefluorene (III) which undergoes cycloaddition with acetylenedicarboxylate to furnish quinolizine (V). Oxidation of the exocyclic double bond affords the corresponding epoxide (VI) as well as fluorenone (VII) in ratios depending on the oxidizing reagent used. Fluorenone itself undergoes condensation with methylpyridine N-oxide (VIII) to furnish pyridylmethylenefluorene N-oxide (IX). Compound (III) as well as its 1-aza analogue are characterized using X-ray crystallography. -(KOLYADINA, N. M.; SOLDATENKOV, A. T.;
