✦ Synopsis
Strong Metal Support Interactions in a Ni/SiO2 Catalyst Prepared via Sol-Gel Synthesis.
-Heating of the title catalyst in H2 atmosphere up to 923 K leads to formation of a cubic NiSi phase due to a strong metal support interaction which causes pronounced changes in the FTIR spectra of chemisorbed CO both in the total intensity and in the ratio of bridged versus linear bonded CO. Oxidative regeneration of the catalyst at 823 K by destruction of the silicide and formation of NiO, Ni2O3, and SiO2 and subsequent reduction at 773 K improves the dispersion of the metal phase and restores the normal sorption properties of the catalyst. -(UECKERT, T.;
