Stereoselective Synthesis of (-)-Metasequoic Acid B. -The synthesis of the title compound (I) is studied starting from (-)-carvone. The key steps are formation of a phenanthrenone system and selective cleavage of the C13-C14 bond leading to the ent-labdane skeleton.
