Abstract

Reaction of cyclopropanecarbaldehyde (I) with aryltitanium reagents, followed by tin‐catalyzed retro‐aldol—acetalization—lactonization sequence provides access towards γ‐aryllactones, e.g. (IV)/(V), with moderate to high diastereoselectivity.
