1998 carboxylic acid esters carboxylic acid esters (benzene compounds) Q 0530 20 -123 Stereochemical Control in Microbial Reduction. Part 30. Reduction of Alkyl 2-Oxo-4-phenylbutyrate as Precursors of Angiotensin Converting Enzyme (ACE) Inhibitors. -The ongoing interest of the pharmaceutical industry in (R)-(II) for the preparation of ACE inhibitors leads to a detailed study of the enantioselective yeast reduction of (I). Most of the parameters of this reaction such as type of solvent, amount of water, concentration of the substrate, variation of the group R in (I), chemical additives and preincubation time are varied and optimized. It is noteworthy that the reaction fails if DME, dioxane, THF, or CH 2 Cl 2 are used as solvents. -(DAO, D.
