Spectroscopic and Structural Aspects of the Protonation of Tetraaza( 14) annulene Dianions.

-By reaction of the compounds (I) with methyllithium the corresponding title dianions are obtained for which the effect of increasing protonation is studied by UV and 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy. For one dianion, neutral and dication compound the crystal structures are determined. Comparisons of these structural data allow for the first time a discussion of protonation effects upon the highly π-conjugated pentadiimidato moiety. -(SCHUMANN, H.;
