✦ Synopsis
Sol-Gel Assisted Preparation and Characterization of Silver Indium Diselenide
Powders. -AgInSe2 powders are synthesized from aqueous solutions of In(NO3)3, AgNO3, citric acid, and ethylene glycol (heating of the obtained gel at 500 °C in air for 3 h), followed by addition of excess Se powder and heating in a horizontal tube (5 vol% H2/N2, 250-600 °C, 20-180 min). The samples are characterized by XRD, SEM, and Raman spectroscopy. An excess of In 3+ ions is necessary in the sol-gel process to produce pure AgInSe2 which is obtained at 450 °C for 2 h or at 600 °C for 20 min. With increasing selenization temperature, the AgInSe2 particle size as well as the crystallinity increase significantly. The sol-gel method with a selenization process provides a potential approach to fabricate AgInSe2 materials for use in thin-film solar cells.
