Single Crystal Structure Determination on KBiO 2 and RbBiO 2 and a Crystal Chemical Comparison of MBiO 2 (M: Na, K, Rb, Cs).

-Single crystals of KBiO 2 and RbBiO 2 are obtained by solid state reactions of the respective binary metal oxides. Both structures are isotypic with NaBiO 2 and CsBiO 2 (space group C2/c, Z = 4) and contain infinite 1 ∞[BiO2] chains extending along the [001] direction. The distances between the chains for the different compounds depend on the size of the alkali metal atoms. -
