โฆ Synopsis
Sequence of Events in H2S Oxidation Reactions.
-For the title studies in-situ reflectance UV-VIS spectroscopy and on-line GC are performed on pressed and powdered wafers from industrial aluminas in different microreactor cells at 400 โข C. The strong absorption peak initially formed at 290 nm at a steady state conversion of 60-70% broadens with time during the modified Claus reaction (MCR) (H2S + SO2 = Sx + H2O). For the Claus reaction (CR) ( H2S + O2 = Sx + H2O), which exhibits similar response, a conversion of ยก 10% is measured. As show by response spectra on S-containing compounds, the observed absorption peaks can be attributed to various sulfur species. The steady state for the MCR and CR reactions are shown to be affected by the species S2O2-2 and S2-2 and the species S2O2-3, respectively.
