Selectivity in Ring-Opening Metatheses.

-In the presence of the Ru-catalyst shown in the scheme cyclic olefins can undergo ring-opening metathesis to afford dienes. Strain and substitution in the cyclic olefin play an important role in affecting this reaction. With appropriate substrate functionality, a regio-and stereoselective ring-opening metathesis is possible. -(TALLARICO,
