-Condensation of hydroxyethyl-or aminoethyl-1,3-propanediamines with dicarbonyl compounds gives the bi-or pentacyclic heterocycles (I) and (II). The cis-fused stereoisomers are formed predominantly in order to avoid 1,3-lone pair interactions. -(OKAWARA, T.;
