-In order to synthesize the skeletons of naturally occurring coumarins and dihydrofurocoumarins, the rhodium-catalyzed reactions of azo compounds (I), (XIV), and (XXI) with nitriles, isocyanates, ketones, acid chlorides, and electron-rich and -deficient olefins are studied.The investigation includes the application of this new synthetic method to the synthesis of pterophyllin 2 (XXIII). -(LEE, YONG
