โฆ Synopsis
Refinement of the Superstructure of C-Type Chromium(III) Tris( metaphosphate), Cr(PO3)3. -Single crystals of Cr(PO3)3 are obtained during irreversible transport experiments starting with CrPO4, P and I (1323 โ 1223 K, Si ampoule). The compound (monoclinic, Cc, Z = 12), which belongs to the M(PO3)3 phosphates (M: Al, In, Sc, Ti, V, Fe, Mo, Rh, Ru) with C-type structure, is characterized by infinite metaphosphate chains and isolated CrO6 octahedra. Three crystallographically distinct CrO6 octahedra of almost ideal geometry are observed according to the superstructure generally found for this structure type. The two independent metaphosphate chains exhibit different bond lengths between P and either bridging or terminal O atoms. -(GRUSS,
