✦ Synopsis

4 :Sm 3+ Prepared by Sol-Gel Method. -The title phosphor is synthesized by the sol-gel method starting with an aqueous solutions containing Ca(NO3)2, SnCl4, Sm2O3, HNO3, and citric acid (90 °C, calcination of the obtained gel at 900 °C for 6 h in air). The samples are characterized by XRD, SEM, photoluminescence, afterglow decay, and thermoluminescence spectroscopy. The phosphor emits reddish orange light with three emission peaks at 565, 609, and 655 nm. Ca2SnO4 doped with an optimized Sm 3+ concentration of 1.5 mol% shows the best afterglow characteristic with an afterglow time of about 1 h. -(JU,
