✦ Synopsis
Rearrangement of 1-(1-Alkynyl)cyclopropanols to 2-Cyclopentenones via Their Hexacarbonyldicobalt Complexes. A New Use of Alkyne-Co 2 (CO) 6 Complexes in Organic Synthesis. -Various cyclopropanols of type (I), (III)/(VI), and (VII)/(XI) undergo in the presence of stoichiometric amounts Co 2 (CO) 8 a novel rearrangement via intermediate alkyne-cobalt complexes to afford cyclopentenones. Bicyclic cyclopropanols of type (XIV), prepared by a new method, also form the corresponding bicyclic cyclopentenones under the same conditions. The rearrangement is found to proceed also in the presence of catalytic amounts of cobalt complex and triaryl phosphites as additives; in particular, tri(o-isopropylphenyl)phosphite gives high yields of cyclopentenones (II). -(IWASAWA, N.; MATSUO, T.; IWAMOTO, M.;
