✦ Synopsis
Reactions of Trimethylsilyl Dienol Ethers with Palladium(II) Salts: Formation of Formyl-Substituted η 3 -Allylpalladium Complexes and 4-Acyloxy-2-alkenals.
-A novel palladium-mediated oxidation reaction of substituted 1,3-dienes of type (I), (VIII), and (XI) is developed affording acetoxy-and benzoyloxy-substituted alkenals with usually favored E stereochemistry. The addition of 1 equiv. AcONa to the reaction results in some cases in higher yields, e.g. for (X). In contrast, the reaction of the same 1,3-dienes with PdCl 2 (MeCN) gives formyl-substituted η 3 -allylpalladium complexes in good to excellent yields.
