Reactions of 4,5-Dicyanopyridazine with Alkynes and Enamines: A New Straightforward Complementary Route to 4-Mono-and 4,5-Disubstituted Phthalonitriles.

-The title pyridazine (I) is a valuable synthon for alternative direct approaches to phthalonitriles from dienophiles of type (II) and (IV). The new disilyl derivative (IIIf) is easily prepared by this method and monosilyl compound (IIIe), previously obtained by a six-step sequence from 4-chloro-o-xylene, is obtained in nearly quantitative yield. -
