Reaction of Trithiazyl Trichloride with Alkenes and Alkynes.

-Alkenes and alkynes smoothly react with trithiazyl trichloride to furnish 1,2,5thiadiazoles in one step. 3,4-Dihydrothiadiazoles derived from tetra-substituted alkenes such as (IX) undergo spontaneously ring opening to give readily hydrolyzed bis( methyleneamino)sulfides (cf.
