Reaction of (Dimethylvinylidene)carbene with Indole-3-carbaldehyde and Its Application in the Synthesis of β-(Dehydroprenyl)indole-Based Natural Products.

-Vinylidenecarbene, prepared in situ from alkyne (II), reacts with indole (I), bearing an electron-withdrawing substituent on the double bond, to give various dehydroprenyl-based indoles. The indole natural products yuehchukene (VI) and murrapanine (VIII) are synthesized using this reaction as key step.
