✦ Synopsis

Reaction of Acylisothiocyanates with 5-Isopropoxy-4-methyloxazole.

-It is shown for the first time that 5-acylimino-3-thiazoline derivatives such as (III) are formed by formal [3 + 2] cycloaddition of the carbonsulfur double bond of acylisocyanates (II) to the oxazole ring in (I) in moderate to good yields. The structure of compound (IIIa) is confirmed by X-ray diffraction analysis.
