โœฆ Synopsis

Properties of Zr0.5Ti0.5(V0.25Mn0.15Ni0.6)2 Alloy Ball-Milled with Nickel Powder.

-Ball milling of the as-cast C14 Laves phase hydrogen storage title alloy with Ni powders leads to a high degree of Ni dispersion into the alloy and formation of a superstoichiometric C14 Laves phase structure. SEM images show a Ni-rich surface layer and a large interface. When used in a metal hydride electrode, the ball-milled alloy exhibits a significant acceleration of the electrode activation, an improved high-rate discharge capacity, and a long cycle life. These effects are attributed to the catalytic effect of the Ni-rich subsurface layer and a protecting oxide film. - (CHEN,
