β¦ Synopsis
Preparation of Giant Magnetoresistance Co-Cu Heterogeneous Alloys by Electrodeposition.
-Heterogenous Co-Cu alloy thin films (β1 Β΅m thick) grown at room temperature on a (111) Pt single-crystal substrate from a sulfate electrolyte containing Co2+ and Cu2+ are characterized by TEM, XRD, and magnetic measurements. Reflection electron microscopic observations of the layers electrodeposited under potential control from the sulfate electrolyte show a heteroepitaxial growth or a three-dimensional island growth depending on the deposition overpotential. A heterogenous Co0.2Cu0.8 alloy film consisting of ultrafine Co-rich clusters in a nonmagnetic Cu matrix exhibit a large saturation magnetoresistance value of more than 20% at room temperature. -(JYOKO,
