Preparation of Cyclic Disulfides from Bisthiocyanates.

-The thiocyanate (I) dimerizes in the presence of Bu 4 NF to the disulfide (II). The reaction can be used to prepare cyclic disulfides (IV) from the bisthiocyanates (III). Interestingly, tristhiocyanates of type (V) yield a mixed cyclized/dimerized product (VI). -(BURNS,
