✦ Synopsis
Preparation of Anisotropic NdFeB Magnets with Different Nd Contents by Hot Deformation (Die-Upsetting) Using Hot-Pressed HDDR Powders (HDDR: Hydrogenation-Disproportionation-Desorption-Recombination).
-Three alloys with compositions Nd 14 Fe 80 B 6 , Nd 16 Fe 78 B 6 , and Nd 18 Fe 76 B 6 are prepared in an induction furnace. Microstructure, composition and grain size are most favourable for a crack-free production of anisotropic magnets with optimum permanent magnet properties. To maximize the coercivity the grain size of the HDDR powder must be close to 0.3 µm. To obtain crack-free samples by die-upsetting the Nd content has to be 14 to 16 at %. Under these conditions a sample is prepared with a coercivity of 0.95 T, a remanence of more than 1 T and a texture degree of 0.4. -
