Preparation of Alkyl-Substituted Indoles in the Benzene Portion. Part 15. Asymmetric Synthesis of (+)-Duocarmycin SA Using Novel Procedure for Preparation of Hydroxyindoles.
-Starting from the known diol (I) derived from L-malic acid the known synthetic intermediate (XVIII) of the title compound is synthesized. The key steps in this approach are the formation of (VII) and the ether cleavage to give (XVI). Additionally, by this total synthesis the absolute configuration is unambiguously defined. -
