✦ Synopsis

Preparation and Thermoelectric Properties of AgPb 18-x Sn x SbTe 20 (x = 0.5, 1, 2, 4, 6) Materials. -The title compounds are hydrothermally synthesized from aqueous mixtures of AgNO3, Pb(NO3)2, SnCl2, SbCl3, TeO2, KOH, and KBH4 (autoclave, 180 Β°C, 20 h) followed by melting at 1273 K for 5 h. The samples are characterized by XRD, SEM, IR spectroscopy, and thermal and electrical property measurements. They crystallize with the NaCl-type structure in the space group Fm3m. Partial substitution of Sn for Pb in AgPb18SbTe20 decreases the lattice parameter and the energy band gap. The electrical transport properties of the samples vary greatly with x. AgPb17SnSbTe20 exhibits a maximum figure of merit value of about 0.72 at 623 K. -(LI, H.; CAI*, K.
