Polyfuryl(aryl)alkanes and Their Derivatives. Part 18. Photochemical Transformation of 2-Nitroaryldifurylmethanes. -UV irradiation of a solution of title (nitroaryl)difurylmethanes (I) affords the furoquinolines (II) in low yields. The reaction starts with the expected rearrangement to (nitrosoaryl)difurylcarbinols which subsequently cyclize to furoquinolines. -
