Polycyclic Aromatic Compounds. Part 2. A General Synthesis of Disubstituted Rubicenes. -Title compounds as (V), whose purification is very difficult due to their low solubility in all common solvents, are prepared by a modified method. It allows to place substituents at the required positions and has the advantage of easier purification of more soluble intermediates (III). The title compounds are of interest as building blocks in supramolecular chemistry.
