Platinum(0)-Catalyzed Carbonylative Lactonization of 5-Hydroxy-1pentyne with Carbon Monoxide in the Presence of Thiols.
-The cyclocarbonylation of title compound (I) to give α-methylene-δ-lactone (III) is found to proceed efficiently by using catalytic Pt(PPh 3 ) 4 in the presence of small amounts of aromatic thiols. A brief investigation of this reaction reveals that the presence of thiols is ineffective when the cyclization is either very fast [(IXa) → (Xa)] or very slow [(IXb) → (Xb)]. -(OGAWA, A.; KAWABE, K.;
