β¦ Synopsis
Photodissociation and Size Analysis of (HBr)n Clusters.
-Sizeselection of (HBr)n clusters, generated in an adiabatic expansion with Ar, by scattering from a He or Ne beam and separation by a velocity selector yields the complete fragmentation pattern for electron impact ionization of clusters with n = 3, 5, 7, 10, and 15 for electron energies of 70 eV. Upon photoionization of (HBr)n clusters at 243.1 nm the translational energy distributions of H atoms are measured in a time-of-flight mass spectrometer with low extraction fields. The experimental results show two size distributions, one at high and one at low energies, corresponding to direct dissociation and complete caging. -
