-A new photoinduced benzannulation reaction of thioamide derivatives is presented. The photoinduced reaction of arenecarbothioamides (I) with 2-methoxyfuran gives the fused arene-fused aminobenzoates (III) and ( IV) as well as the pyrrolylarene (V) in moderate yield. In an analogous reaction the heterocyclic thioamides (VI) produce fused heterocyclic compounds (VII) and pyrrolyl compounds (VIII). The reaction also works with trimethylsilyloxyfuran (X) where the arene-fused compounds (XII) are formed exclusively. -(ODA,
