β¦ Synopsis
Phase Equilibria in the Ge-Bi-Te Ternary System at 570-770 K. -Studies of the title system at 570 and 770 K by XRD and metallographic methods show the existence of two new phases Ge2-xBi2+xTe5 (I) and Ge4-xBi2+XTe7 (II) at 770 K in addition to the known compounds Ge3Bi2Te6, GeBi2Te4, and GeBi4Te7.
The latter three compounds consist of cubic close-packed Te layers with Ge and Bi in octahedral holes and with 33-, 21-, and 12-layer stackings, respectively. Compounds (I) and (II) exhibit 9-and 39-layer structures, respectively. The isothermal section at 570 K is constructed under consideration of the formation of high members of the (GeTe)nBi2Te3 (n = 1-9) and ( Bi2Te3)mGeTe (m = 1-4) homologous series and of ordered intermediate phases in the Bi-Te system. -(SHELIMOVA, L.
