Pericyclic Reactions in Nature: Synthesis and Cope Rearrangement of Thermolabile Bis-alkenylcyclopropanes from Female Gametes of Marine Brown Algae (Phaeophyceae).

-The title investigation is presented in context with studies on the biosynthesis of cyclic pheromones, e.g. (VIII) and (XIII). Bioassays establish the thermolabile progenitor (VII) as the only relevant compound for the attraction of male gametes of Ectocarpus siliculosus.
