Perfluoroalkylsulfonyl-Substituted Azobenzenes as Second-Order Nonlinear Optical Chromophores.

-Compounds (I) are prepared by conventional methods and used to prepare the corresponding methyl methacrylate copolymers. The compounds act as second-order nonlinear optical chromophores. Compounds (Ib)-(Id) and the corresponding copolymers show enhanced second-order nonlinear coefficients and improved relaxation behavior compared with the nitro compound (Ia) and the corresponding copolymer. -
