Palladium-Catalyzed Cyclization of o-Alkynyltrifluoroacetanilides with Allyl Esters. A Regioselective Synthesis of 3-Allylindoles.

-The Pd-catalyzed cyclization of o-alkynyltrifluoroacetanilides to 3-allylindoles is studied. Three basic procedures are presented. Thus, a stepwise process with isolation of the intermediate N-allyl derivatives (III), a one-pot reaction omitting the isolation of the N-allyl derivatives and a formation of the target products [cf. (IX)] through a mechanism not involving the intermediacy of N-allyl derivatives, is described.
