Palladium-Catalyzed Cyclization and Functionalization of 1,1-Diacetoxy-2,7-diene and 1,1-Diacetoxy-2-en-7-yne Derivatives.

-The Pd-catalyzed metallo-ene cyclization of (I) provides cyclic enolates which can be easily transformed to aldehydes (III) amenable to further transformation. Cyclization/carbonylation, cyclization/vinylstannane coupling and chloropalladation/carbocyclization applied to (Ia) or analogous dienes or diynes (VII) and (IX) allows the preparation of a variety of functionalized cyclopentanes.
