Palladium Catalyzed Cross-Coupling Reaction with Indolylborate: A Concise Access to Ellipticine Derivatives.
-A novel approach to ellipticine derivatives of type (VI) is presented, which includes the synthesis of key intermediates (IV) by the title reaction and the subsequent photochemical conversion of the hexatriene system of (IV) to the target compounds (VI) and isomerized products ( VII). In addition, the BF3β’OEt2 or TFA promoted spiroannelation of (IV) is observed to give spiroindoles like (IX).
