Palladium-Catalyzed Carbonylative Reaction of 1-(2,2-Dibromovinyl)-2-alkenylbenzene and Carbon Monoxide, with Phenol or Alcohol. -The addition of molecular sieves is highly effective for the reaction of phenols, whereas no advantage is observed in the case of alcohol substrates [cf. (IV)]. In all cases, the (E)-isomer is formed exclusively.
