Oxazaphosphorinane Precursors to the Diastereoselective Synthesis of DNA Phosphorothioates.

-The chiral phosphorothioate (VIII) is diastereoselectively synthesized from the oxazaphosphorinane (VII) containing xylose as chiral auxiliary. In contrast, the cholesterol and camphor derivatives (III) and (V) are unstable under the acidic conditions required for the second coupling.
